Bob Athanasiou - Photographer of Year 2005-6
Enhanced Division

Bob Athanasiou has been taking pictures for more than half a century. He started with a Kodak Brownie box camera and worked his way up to Nikon SLRs. He spent many years working in black and white and then in color slides and finally in color print format. In the 60’s he spent time working in a darkroom in his basement, creating some good black and white shots. Now, he uses strictly digital format and uses a Nikon D70 SLR and a Canon S70 pocket camera. He is a semi-retired physician and even took some photo courses on medical illustration in medical school.

He and his wife, Barb, have swapped winning divisions this year. Last year Bob won the unenhanced divisions while Barb won the enhanced division. His pictures from the previous year can be found at Photographer of Year 2004-5.
