The Villages Photography Club met on January 2, 2008 at La Hacienda. The meeting was called to order by Bob Athanasiou. Paul Nistico, Treasurer, reported $885.49 on hand.

Results of the “Photographer of the Year” contest was a tie. The winners were Barbara Athanasiou and Diane Patti.

Next meeting: Presentation will be by Mark D’Orio of The Villages Daily Sun newspaper.

Awards for Photographer of the Year will be presented. Please bring in photographs that were received ratings as follows:

1/1/07 – 3/7/07 Those photos judged as 10, 11 or 12
3/8/07 – 12/31/07 Those photos judged as 11 and 12

We were reminded about the Village Sun’s photo contest (color or B&W). Photos must be in by February 6. Categories can be found in the newspaper.

Dues for this year will be collected at the next meeting. Those who paid dues September or after will be considered paid for 2008.

The Photographer’s Showcase will be held on March 5 (all day). The planned chairperson will not be available, so Helene Scharaldi volunteered to chair it provided she got some volunteers to assist her. A sign-up list was passed around.

Today’s topic was “Bird Photography” and two great presentations were made: one by Barb Athanasiou and one by Paul Nistico followed by a questions and answers period.
