Minutes 2 /4/2009
The Villages Photography Club met at LaHacienda on Wednesday, February 4th. We were led in the pledge of allegiance by President Bob Athanasiou. Paul Nistico, treasurer, reported we have $993.24 on hand, having already paid for the camera which will be raffled off at the Showcase. Last meeting we collected 10 cans and $17 for the food banks. Helene thanks everyone and encourages them to remember to bring in food goods every meeting. We discussed going to the Raptor Center as a field trip on April 8th. We will meet and car pool. The cost is $5. The website for the center is www.ARC4raptors.org. We are planning a field trip to Gainesville on March 11th to the Butterfly Museum.. Our new members were-Tom Bradley from Pennsylvania, Joanie Hubbard from Ohio and Barb Athanasiou asked if anyone would like to help her run the website. Please contact her if you are interested. They are looking for someone to take over the job of President, if you are interested please contact Harold Croft or Bob Athanasiou. Dues for this year will be collected at the next meeting. Those who paid dues September or after will be considered paid for 2008. We have nice new frames for our display at Little Bits Café. Arne will be meeting at Spanish Springs in front of Starbucks at 9am on Wed. 11 to help members with photographic techniques. Bring your camera and manual. There will be a few people there who can help, so come on down. The competition for Photograph of the Year was held: 1st was Barb Athanasiou’s Peaceful Mooring Congratulations to all! A 10 minute Tech Talk on how to ‘Shoot The Moon’ was given by Arne Thesen. It was very interesting. A program on Understanding Layers was given by Eileen Sklon and was informative for all.
